How to Download Music onto Your iPhone: 5 Steps (with Pictures)

With the iTunes app, you can download music directly to your iPhone without syncing to your computer. This article will show you how.
STEPS

LAUNCH THE ITUNES APP FROM YOUR IPHONE.

TAP ON THE "MUSIC" ICON IN THE BOTTOM HORIZONTAL NAVIGATION BAR TO BROWSE FOR SONGS TO PURCHASE, OR TAP ON THE "SEARCH" ICON TO FIND A PARTICULAR SONG, ALBUM, OR ARTIST.

FIND OUT THE DETAILS IF YOU NEED TO. When you find a song or artist you are interested in, tap on it for more details. It'll take you to a page that lists all of the songs in that album.
Tap on the name of any song to listen to a preview.

BUY IT. A gray button to the right of the song lists its price. Tap on it twice to purchase. You may be prompted to type in your Apple ID password to confirm your choice.
You may also purchase the entire album. Look for the gray button with the album price in the album description, which should be above the list of songs in the album.
If you have automatic downloads turned on and a strong Internet connection, your purchase will begin to download immediately.
To turn on Automatic Downloads, launch your settings app. Go to "iTunes & App Stores" and then to the "Automatic Downloads" section. You can turn it on for Music and/or Apps purchased from iTunes.

OTHERWISE, LAUNCH YOUR ITUNES APP AGAIN AFTER PURCHASING THE SONG. Tap "More" on the bottom horizontal navigation bar.
Tap "Purchased", "Music," and then select an artist or "All Songs."


Tap on the button to the right of a song you'd like to download. If the song has already been downloaded, it will have a "Play" button instead.
